With two bowden extruder, Solid Utopia V2 is able to print simultaneously in thermoplastic and soluble material. As the part is build the printer lay support structures which cleanly dissolve away after the print is finished, making possible the creation of complex geometries.
Benefit from the advantage of filaments cartridges for the price of rolls. The compartments protect the filament from dust or external debris that may stick and eventually clog the extruder. It also protects vulnerable filaments to moisture such as PVA and nylon. Note that the extrusion mechanism is closed and also the guides tubes fro the filament compartment to the extrusion nozzle, this way the filament is never exposed to air flow. We chose not to put the filament at the back but on the side for easier access.
Using the second print head to deposit soluble material releases the printer from the constraint of a single head. By using soluble support material, it is possible to create more complex geometries using less manual cleanup. It is also possible to print two colors to make remarkable parts. You can even create less expensive parts by using only expensive filament like bronze, brick or wood for external surface and perform the infill with the second nozzle with cheaper plastic. The nozzles are interchangeable, allowing you to print with different diameters, but also simplify maintenance.
Large build volume
The large print area not only create larger prototypes (378mm diagonal), but can also makes several parts at once. Small production is then possible on your desk. Print all your parts at once.
Solid Utopia frame pannels are chemically welded over their entire length, which makes it more rigid than the screw-hole fasteners. Stiff frame combined with light weight bowden extruder head ensure to minimize vibration and increase precision. High grade linear rails and custom machined bushing ensure a smooth and reliable motion.
